2009 USPSA Production Nationals - Photo Montage

Monday, November 2, 2009 20:24 No Comments

I know, I know … I’ve been neglecting Rob’s blog.  USPSA Nationals have been over for nearly 6 weeks, and I’ve just put together a photo montage of Rob at the Production Nationals.  Actually, I recently received the photos from Yamil Sued, as I was not at this match.  I don’t know what we would [...]

2009 USPSA Back-To-Back Handgun Nationals

Tuesday, September 22, 2009 10:18 No Comments

It’s that time of the shooting season… The USPSA Handgun Nationals are over and the year is coming to a close in terms of major action pistol competitions.  We only have the Area-2 and Area-4 matches remaining.  We do, however, have new National Champions!
Congratulations to all who  prevailed in Las Vegas last week during the USPSA National [...]

Rob Leatham wins Production Division at the 2009 World Speed Shooting Championship - Steel Challenge

Tuesday, August 18, 2009 20:45 No Comments

Earlier this year, Springfield Armory offered to sponsor USPSA Production Division at the Steel Challenge.  The offer was excitedly accepted by USPSA and, voila’, a new category was born.
In the past, competitors were NOT allowed to shoot two iron sight categories, as the SC did NOT allow entries in both USPSA & IDPA categories without [...]

The (M) Factor

Wednesday, May 13, 2009 10:08 No Comments

I just wanted to write a quick blurb about Springfield Armory winning the American Rifleman “Handgun of the Year” award for their new XD(M) pistol.  The XD(M) is a great all-around gun for everyone from beginners to top-level shooters, and rightly deserves this award.
You can find more info about the XD(M) on Springfield’s site, or [...]

More XD9

Monday, November 17, 2008 17:24 3 Comments

Just finished practicing with a friend of mine from Mexico.  We were both shooting Tactical XD 9s.  I am becoming more and more impressed with how easily shooters are able to adapt to and benefit from the trigger on a tuned XD.  I switched halfway through the session to a Custom Shop 1911 9mm operator [...]

Sights for the XD

Monday, November 3, 2008 7:50 1 Comment

I have on my #1 XD9 production gun a Warren Tactical rear sight with green fiber optics.  On the front is my standard .100 wide and .205 tall Dawson Precision front with red fiber optic tube.  I have been shooting this setup for a few months now and I am really liking it.  The rear [...]

9mm minor part 2

Monday, November 3, 2008 7:25 5 Comments

Well, I am still trying to get that magic sub sonic light recoiling load for minor.  I am trying 125 and 115 grain bullets loaded close to the power factor. The issue is the speed of sound. The 147 grainers never get close, but the 115’s have to run right near to get the gun [...]

9mm ammo for minor caliber

Saturday, November 1, 2008 7:23 1 Comment

I have a curious thing going on with my ammo for production class.  I prefer to shoot heavy bullets going slow with fast powders, but am now having trouble getting the accuracy out of this setup in 4 of my 5 XD9’s?  I like the 147-grainers feel but they just are not shooting that well [...]
