"I've attended many matches over the last 20+ years and have witnessed none that have gone as smoothly as the 2006 Drillmasters Nationals.  Many people worked very long and hard to make this event happen.

First and foremost is the creator of this website, my wife Kippi.  Without her tireless efforts, none of this would have ever been possible.  I look forward to her finally finishing all of the details so she can get a little rest.  She has been up at 05:00 each morning and to bed at 11:00 each night for the last week, and most of that time was spent on this keyboard or at the range.  If you like RobLeatham.com or Drillmasters Shooting Club, she is the one responsible.

Next is Dave Paasch.  A harder working, more motivated person I have never met.  I literally did nothing to setup or run this match - other than check the drill dimensions.  That was it!  Everything else was already taken care of or arranged by Dave.  Kip and I both appreciate the effort and time you put into the match every year.  You are not only our favorite match director, but have become a close family friend.  We enjoy having you in our lives, Dave!

Joey Ortiz was Dave's number one man.  I don't know what it took to get the range setup, because by the time I meandered out there each day, EVERYTHING was done.  I actually got to enjoy visiting with and watching the entrants shoot the drills.  These guys made this very effortless for me.  JOEY - You're the best!

The R.O. staff had no problems to deal with, due to the excellent organizing of the event.  The manner in which they performed their jobs allowed all involved to enjoy a safe and fair event.  Nothing better can be said and I didn't hear anything but compliments for the job they did.  No one is more critical of the R.O. than an experienced shooter and from my point of view, our range staff was the absolute best!

And then there's Polle.  You are an integral part of ALL of our matches out at Rio Salado, as you do the stats.  Thank you again, Polle, for all of the tireless hours, your never-ending commitment and, most of all, the smile that is always on your face!  We hope you're feeling better soon.

Darin, thanks for the start on the DMSC Video outtakes!  ;-)  We had a great time with you this week and appreciate all of your help!

I would again like to sincerely thank all involved!

There was just one problem, though, and I do not mean to complain.  Things just went so smoothly, that I had nothing to do but wander around.  This made it quite clear that I am indeed a competitor.  It was tough watching people shoot and then not getting my turn.  It has been a long and successful season, but shooting beats watching any day!  Next year, I am going to shoot, if Kip will let me!   Maybe I'll have to go on the waiting list ... ;-)

I want to congratulate all of the shooters and thank them for supporting our event.  We're hoping to make it bigger and better next year ... with no backing up, shooting tactical priority / sequence! =)  I know that some of you came a very long way.  I do hope you found the match worthwhile, and I'm really glad that the price of gas has come down a bit.

Special congrats to all those who set National Records on this year's drills and especially to Vic Pickett for winning the final shoot off.  Vic, who shot his open REVOLVER, beat all of the Open Autos first and finally, iron sight category winner John Slade in an exciting, close battle.  Excellent show, guys!

Kudos to my son Tommy who made it to the third shoot off round after not participating in a match for several months. You made me proud, son.

Well, this is getting a little long, so I'll close by saying "thanks" again to everyone for making this event such a success.  Good luck to all on next month's drill."  Rob
